What can cause an AV200-2DN-S Pump to switch itself off after 5 minutes?

There are a few things that could cause this. There is a thermal overload built into the motor so essentially it's getting too hot. 1. Is the pump in a suitably ventilated area? 2. Is there an obstruction in the pump or pipework? 3. Is there any form of speed controller fitted to the pump as some pumps get hot on very low speeds and require extra ventilation? It could be caused by running dry, binding or something else. This would have to be investigated on site. Failing this it could be a faulty component in the motor itself causing it to heat up or the thermal overload is too sensitive. In this case a replacement motor may be required.
