What does it do?
Energy saving products are fast becoming the norm for newbuild pools. Highly efficient Heat Pumps, such as the HeatSeeker, are now the most popular choice of pool heating. Typically they consume up to 5 times less electricity than a conventional electric heater. Pool owners are also demanding highly efficient Solar Covers as a means to increase pool water temperature by harnessing solar heat-gain. (The ultraefficient Sol+Guard is now the UK’s most popular Solar Cover despite being more expensive to purchase than conventional Solar Covers). Nowadays, potential pool owners are also demanding insulated Swimming pool walls and floors to minimise heat loss to the surrounding soil, thus dramatically reducing heating costs. It’s common practice to insulate our immersion tanks, lofts etc. The same principles apply to insulating a swimming pool, it makes commercial and environmental sense to insulate warm swimming pool water from its cold surrounds.
There are no short-cuts when installing an insulated pool. Installing insulation on the outside of a pool panel does not offer similar insulation values as a Thermapool Panel; also the benefits of installing an insulated pool are negligible if the insulation material absorbs water. The secret of Thermapools’ extraordinary pool water heat retention is in its design. Thermapool Panels utilise closed-cell Structural Extruded Polystyrene (XPS), encased in plastisol coated steel panels. By incorporating moisture-repellent insulation into both the pool floor and walls ‘thermal bridging’ is virtually eliminated.
